The Dawn of Ethnic Weaving

When you think of the word "Weaving" , what comes first to the mind is a thread and needle and it seems rather ordinary . But I can assure you its much more than that.  Weaving is to create some magic with a thread to become a master-work that enchants you.

Weaving is a mystery within woman's sphere.
Oh! Although there are various forms of Weaving that are done mechanically(Power looms ) today but here we are talking about  the real hand made art that mesmerises you . We are talking about PAITHANI.
Yes people, you got that right!! Paithani Sarees from Maharashtra.

Paithani (Marathi: पैठणी) is a variety of sari, named after the Paithan town in Aurangabad Maharashtra state where they are woven by hand. Made from very fine silk, it is considered as one of the richest saris in Maharashtra.
Paithani is characterised by borders of an oblique square design, and a pallu with a peacock design. Plain as well as spotted designs are available. Among other varieties, single coloured and kaleidoscope-colored designs are also popular. The kaleidoscopic effect is achieved by using one color for weaving lengthwise and another for weaving width -wise.

Ladies, aren't these awesome? Even our bollywood stars aren't untouched by the magic of paithani. Here's our very own beautiful Kajol at her very own wedding (no less) wearing a traditional , ethnic green paithani saree. Doesn't she look exquisite?

These lovely sarees are created by purest of the silk and gold thread.... Yeah, gold the weakness of Indian women. isn't it?
It is a saree that is handed from a generation to the next from a mother to her daughter. Paithani is a golden heritage of 2000 years.
So, aren't you ready to bewitch all and sundry with this gorgeous saree. Please post your comments . We would love to hear from you.

Thank You. :)
